Rector’s Welcome

Message from The Rev’d Canon Roger Young

Dear Friends,

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.” (2 Corinthians 13.13)

I would like to personally welcome you to our parish website and to invite you to share in the life and ministry of Emmanuel Church in Arnprior. These words from St. Paul are also our greeting every Sunday and they affirm our faith as the People of God as we live in the grace of Christ. They express our experience of God as we share in community in the presence of the Risen Lord. As we journey together as disciples of Jesus, we grow in love for God and serve Christ in God’s creation. We face the challenge of having faith in today’s world with the assurance of the leading of God’s Spirit.

As the Rector of the Parish of Emmanuel, it is my joy and privilege to serve in Arnprior as priest and pastor in the rich ministry of the Anglican Church, in our life of worship, spiritual growth and pastoral care, our tradition of responsible study and use of scripture, our sacramental life, and our willingness to be led onward by the Spirit. We believe the authentic faith of the Church which is expressed in our Creeds and our worship, and in seeking truth, justice, and compassion for today. Anglicans believe that scripture, tradition, and reason are God’s gifts that enable us to be faithful disciples.

Anglican worship is communal and all participate actively. We use liturgical texts and an ordered set of scripture readings which allow us to reflect on all the themes of the good news of Jesus Christ, the love of God and the activity of the Holy Spirit. We look to eternal things as we join in worship with the whole Church in heaven and earth. Anglican worship may be plain or elaborate, but it is always Biblical and Sacramental. Our regular service or Liturgy is the Holy Eucharist or Communion. Everyone may receive Communion in our Church.

I am always willing to discuss your questions and to help you in any way. If you are new or have been away from church, we will make it easy for you to feel at home. Please ask if you have concerns. You can participate at your own pace in ways that are comfortable for you. We are not perfect and we know that it is God who works through us and in us. We hope that you will consider becoming part of the family at Emmanuel. If you wish to read my current letter, please visit the Parish Newsletters

May God bless you and give you peace.

Yours in the love of Christ,

Roger Young
